Abstract

324,556. Universelle Cigarettenmaschinen Fabrik J. C. M³ller & Co., and Voigt, W. March 1, 1929. Packeting cigarettes.-Oval cigarettes are collected, arranged, and fed in groups for packeting by apparatus in which a collected group is fed further in the original direction of feed into a separate channel and against a second abutment, before being transversely fed to the packeting station as in Specification 272,210. The cigarettes are removed from a supply hopper 1 by a drum 2 with pockets 3, and fall from an inclined surface 5 on to a feed band 6. The feed band carries them towards a bar 9 against which they arrange themselves in overlapping formation. When a sufficient number has been collected, the bar 9 is raised and a pusher 21 on an endless band 18 feeds the group against a stop 25, a spring mounted locking member 28 being depressed during the passage of the cigarettes and springing back into the position shown. The group is now removed by a transverse plunger. The bar 9 is mounted on arms 10 sliding in guides 12 and operated by a cam 16, and is gapped to permit the passage of the pusher 21.
