Stoppers, means to prevent loss of.-In a closure device for the filling orifices of petrol &c. tanks, motor-radiators &c. in which a cap is hinged by a vertical pivot pin to an internally threaded carried ring, fastening means are provided which, on the cap being turned over the ring, establish a positive connection between the cap and the ring to enable them thereafter to be rotated as a unit for making a screw-sealed joint between the cap and the neck of the container. Screwed upon a mount ring d is a carrier ring c to which a cap a is pivoted by a pin b arranged perpendicularly to the cap in a lug c<1> on the carrier ring c. The cap a may be turned about the pin b to uncover the orifice of the container or to cover it, a hook f on the cap then engaging frictionally with a tongue e on the carrier ring c so that the cap and ring may be turned together to draw the cap into tight engagement with the mount ring d. A packing washer h may be disposed in the cap. The lower part of the mount ring d is recessed to form a shoulder d<2> adapted to be engaged by a catch g mounted on the pivot pin b, the catch preventing complete removal of the carrier ring from the mount ring, but being rotatable on the pin to clear the shoulder and permit removal of the carrier ring if desired. According to the first Provisional Specification, instead of hinging the cap, it may be detachably secured to the carrier ring by a form of bayonet joint. Specification 280,222 is referred to.
