Abstract

323,584. Rasmussen, R. C, Oct. 22. 1928. Induction pipes, fittings for.-A device for mixing the charge and preventing damage from back-firing comprises two screens c, b postioned between the carburettor of the engine and mounted between asbestos packings a, the screen c nearer the carburettor being of finer mesh than the screen b, and each screen comprising an outer truncated conical part f and an inner re-entrant conical part g, the apices of the re-entrant conical parts g facing towards and approaching each other. The screens may be made from circular or angular metal wire or from thin flat metal strips, or may consist of metal plates in which a suitable number of holes are pierced. In a modification, one of the screens is plain or curved.
