Abstract
322,967. Wittemeier, H. March 6, 1929. Dust-collectors.-Dusty air is passed through a series of separating compartments the capacities of which successively increase and then diminish, while the areas of the openings connecting the compartments at first diminish and then increase. The compartments may be formed by plates b corrugated in circles and separated by perforated plates c, the whole surrounding a suction pipe a slotted and fitted with a throttle k. The variations in chamber capacity are effected by varying the angles of the corrugations talcing the radial distances of the compartments also into consideration. The plates b are formed with flanges b<1> arranged to give relatively large inlets, and with rims c<1> at their innermost parts giving large outlets and forming dust traps; the perforations give passages of intermediate areas.
