Abstract
322,862. Roth, H. Nov. 12, 1928. Fluid-actuated valves.-In a flushing-valve of the type operated by a push button which closes the circuit of an electro-magnetically controlled actuating valve, the main valve 14 is raised by the water pressure acting on the underside of a piston 16 on the opening of the actuating valve 29, this allowing the balancing pressure on the other side of the piston to be released via the port 47 and pasasge 25 through the main valve. The actuating valve is secured to the bottom of an iron cylinder 31 which forms the core of a solenoid 37. The core is enclosed in a brass case 30 and is allowed a small amount of free movement, before it contacts with the top of its casing, to provide a hammer blow to raise the actuating valve from its seating when the solenoid is energized. The port 47 through which the pressure is released from the top of the piston is arranged in staggered relation to, and is larger than, the port 46 through which pressure water is admitted to the top of the piston. The energizing coil 37 is protected by a cylindrical cover 41 which is secured to the valve body by a gland cut 43 in a fluid-tight joint.
