Abstract

594,466. Flushing valves. MACMAHON, P. M. Oct. 3, 1944, No. 18933. Convention date, Oct. 26, 1943. [Class 135] A flushing valve, particularly for urinals, comprises a ball valve member 28, Fig. 5, which controls the communication between the mains pipe 25 and the flush pipe 32 and is actuated by water pressure upon a piston 35 which is generated in a chamber 6, Fig. 3, by a person standing upon a flexible cover or plate 12 to this chamber. The chamber 6 is maintained full or partly full of water from the mains pipe 18 through a non-return valve 23 'and the pressure to operate the flushing valve is transmitted through a pipe 42. When the pressure on the flexible cover 12 is removed the operating pressure is relieved and the plunger 35 is returned by a spring 40 to allow the valve 28 to close.
