Abstract

Lantern screens; mounting electric lamps in lanterns. - A lamp for theatrical, advertising, ballroom, shop window, and other colour lighting purposes, comprises a cylindrical metal casing A provided at one side with an aperture, at the top with a removable lid L carrying a reflector U and a tray 0 for the holder Q of an electric lamp bulb, and at the bottom with a turntable D having clips E for the removable attachment of a drum, cylinder, or the equivalent. The drum may comprise a metal framework carrying strips of glass which may be treated with blending colours to give an endless colour-changing effect, they may be mottled to give a cloud effect, or they may be blackened and then words scratched on to them to give an endless reading effect. A semi-circular metal shutter may also be provided for the intermittent obscuration of the light. The casing A is supported at any desired angle by means of a fork B, and the lid is provided with a ventilator M and is secured to the casing by set screws and wing nuts K. The turntable D revolves on ball. bearings C, and it may be turned by hand by means of a collar F, or it may be turned by a motor, in which case the collar F acts as a brake drum for a brake G. A focusing lens may be mounted on a frame I which is fitted with side doors detachably hinged at J. The tray 0 is adjustably supported from the lid L by means of stays N<1> - - N<4> and is made circular with two slots P for focusing the bulb with respect to a bevelled reflector U fixed to the stays N<2> N3.
