Television.-In order that the picture current emitted by a television transmitter may be an alternating current whose amplitude varies in accordance with the brightness of the picture elements, the voltages derived from the usual photo-electric cell 2 are applied, after amplification by the valve 2a, to one grid 3 of a tetrode valve 4, the other grid 5 of which is subjected to alternating potential through the transformer 7. The grid bias is such that the normal plate current is approximately zero.
