Abstract
590,778. Television. FARNSWORTH TELEVISION & RADIO CORPORATION. May 10, 1944, No. 8931. Convention date, Nov. 1, 1943. [Class 40 (iii)] An amplifier for mixing synchronising and blanking signals with video signals comprises a tube 1 shown as a pentode to which either or both synchronising and blanking signals are applied, e.g. from sources 5 and 8, in the negative sense to drive the cathode of tube 2, also shown as a pentode. Video signals are applied from source 14 in a positive sense to tube 2 and in the presence of pulses on its cathode, tube 2 operates with current saturation in respect of video signals so that the synchronising and blanking signals are transmitted without disturbance. If desired, frame and line synchron-. ising pulses may be applied separately, the suppressor grid of tube 2 being utilised for one set of pulses: Blanking or synchronising pulses may be applied to the suppressor grid of tube 2 and one. of the grids of tube 1 left free for use with other signals. The arrangement will mix horizontal and vertical blanking pulses, horizontal and vertical synchronising pulses, and video signals.
