Abstract

321,741. MacGregor, R. Aug. 22, 1928. Hatch covers of the kind comprising rows of sectional cover plates extending across the hatch the inner edges of the plates being supported by portable hatch beams. The beam 4 is a flat topped member flush with the flanges on the top of the hatch coaming and rollers 2 are arranged on the edges of the sections 1 running on the hatch beams and on the external flanges of the hatch. Both the runways may be extended beyond the hatch to accommodate the sections when the hatch is open. The abutting edges of the sections are positioned by studs 9, Fig. 5, on depending flange 12 taking into recesses in the other flange 10, packing 11 being located above the studs Winch gear is provided to handle the sections.
