Clutches positive.-In positive overloading- release clutches, notches in a boss b on the driven shaft c are engaged by rollers d on the joint-pin e of toggle levers k, f, one k of each pair pivoted on a plate m<1> bolted to the driving-drum a and the other slotted to engage a pin h on a plate h' bolted to the casing. A spring i within the lever f bears on a block pivoted on the pin h and maintains engagement between the parts b, d until overload forces the rollers from the notches and the levers k, f over their dead centres, when the spring serves to complete their movement to a position in which permanent disengagement of the clutch is maintained. The lever f carries a rigid projection n pivoted to a rod o carrying a cam end o' which projects from the casing when the clutch is disengaged and may engage a trip device to break the circuit of the motor driving the drum a. The clutch is reset by pressing inwards the rods o.
