Abstract

321,407. Marks, E. C. R., (American Machine & Foundry Co.). June 29, 1928. Coating by dipping.-In a process for coating metals with metals as a preventative against corrosion, the metals are dipped in a molten leadzinc alloy containing 4.5 per cent of zinc and 0.5 per cent of aluminium, the alloy being at a temperature of about 875‹ F. and then in a molten lead-tin-phosphorus alloy containing 2 per cent of phosphor-tin and optionally 0.1 per cent of lead phosphide, the temperature of the bath being about 750‹ F. The alloys are prepared by melting the lead and then adding the other ingredients.
