321,297. Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., Goodyear, C. E., and Wright, J. Oct. 9,1928. Hubs; spokes, securing and adjusting.-In a wire-spoked wheel having a two-part hub 1, 2 the adjustment of which serves to tension the spokes, spacing-means are provided whereby the hub is adapted for assemblage over permanent hubs of the kind employed with artillery wheels. The spacing-raeans may consist of bosses 4, Figs. 1 and 7, formed on a detachable annular member 5; sleeves 11, Fig. 3, with stepped ends which may be riveted to the spaced flanges of the hubparts; on a cup-shaped member 25, Fig. 11, bolted to the flanged end of the hub-barrel 1. The hub parts may be connected, permanently as by welding, or detachably as by set-screws 7, Fig 2, or by a split-ring 17, Fig. 7, engaging a groove formed internally or externally on the hub-barrel. The inner ends of the spokes 12 may be formed with plain heads, the outer ends having taper heads 12a, Fig. 5, fitted with split collars 13 to engage countersunk holes in depressions 14 on the rim 15.
