Abstract

309,174. Lara, A. J. April 7, 1928. [Convention date]. Compression-spoke wheels; disc-wheels; detachable wheels.-The wheel-rim 12 is connected to a resilient hub-shell 9 of substantial diameter by means of tubular spokes 13 of elliptical crosssection which have enlarged ends 14, 15 to embrace the hub and rim respectively and are secured by welding, riveting, or other means. The spokes are non-radial and form a triangular arrangement. The wheel may be detachably secured to a permanent hub 11 by means of studs 17 threaded into ferrules 16 carried by the hub 11. The heads of the studs are countersunk into the face of the hub 11. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also a construction, Fig. 3, (Camcelled), wherein the spokes are oppositelydished and the hub-shell 9 is directly mounted over the brake drum 20; a construction, Fig. 9, (Cancelled), wherein tubular metal spokes 23 are fitted with wood cores 24 the inner ends of which bear on a sleeve 25 which may be utilized as a brake drum; a construction in which flat-sectioned spokes are arranged to form a triangulation; and a construction, comprising', large-sectioned spokes arranged radially. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
