Abstract

321,059. Maxen, F. Oct. 30, 1928. Treating land with steam. - A tubular grid or frame provided with hollow or bored tines for delivering steam into the ground for sterilizing purposes, is furnished with a removable filtering- disc in a two-part housing at the steam inlet, for (preventing particles of rubber &c. from passing into the grid. The filter housing comprises a cup-like socket 2 having a narrow neck 2<a> screwed or welded to the grid 1 and a wider part 2<b> into which screws the flanged end or nose 6 of a, metal tube connector or adapter 7. A perforated, gauze, or other filter disc 5 rests on a spring 3 which forces it upwards when the nose 6 is removed. The disc 5 and socket 2 are made of large diameter so that the aggregate area of the perforations in the disc may be equal to that of the outlet orifice of the grid,.
