Two-stroke-cycle engines. - In a horizontally-opposed-cylinder engine with cylinders of two diameters, the pump chamber D of one cylinder charging the power chamber of the other, inlet to the pump chambers and delivery to the power chambers is controlled by a rotary valve M. This valve is arranged directly over the crank shaft and has two cross passages K<1> at right angles to each other. The inlet passages to the pump chambers are cast in the valve casing and main cylinders, but the mixture is delivered to the power cylinders through pipes P, P<1>.
