320,553. Barton, C. H., and Mayson, H. Nov. 21, 1928. Walls. - Single or double slab walls are formed with pillars built of concrete blocks threaded on rods 5, tubes, or rolled sections which ane secured at the base to a horizontal metal member 2 embedded in the foundation course 1. Drainage and ventilation grooves 3, 4 are formed in the upper face of the foundation. The pillars may be provided with transverse holes 16 connecting the wall cavities on each side. The wall slabs are keyed to the pillars and have drainage grooves 10 on the upper edges. The inner slabs may consist of frames covered with laths and concrete, or asbestos-cement sheets may bear against the outer slabs. The ground floor joists rest on the lower pillar blocks 12, and the upper joists are carried by channels 28, Fig. 5, anchored to the rods 5 by a bracket 29 and bar 27; alternatively, the upper floor joists may rest on the bar 27 and the rods 5 be threaded through them. The wall cavity communicates with the roof space.
