Abstract

319,945. Saunders, P. R. Oct. 11, 1928. Addition to 274,319. Pistons.-The bimetallic piston as described in the parent Specification is provided with a skirt in semi-cylindrical halves 11 of sheet-metal pressings with inturned flanges 22, to fit into slots 7 in T-shaped lugs 4 depending from the piston head. The side pieces of the halves 11 near the flanges are bent to clear the cylinder walls. The shirt is stiffened.by depressions 12 and is secured in the lugs 4 by rivets 9. The lugs 4 are connected at their upper ends by a stiffening arched web, cross webs for strength and cooling being formed in the piston head. The skirt parts are apertured at 13 to allow gudgeon pin to be removed, the pin being secured by a pin 25.
