Abstract

319,632. Standard Telephones & Cables, Ltd., and Weston, W. K. June 20, 1928. Machines for making.-A machine for twisting together wires or strands, particularly for forming electric cables, is provided with yokes carrying the bobbins, and rotatable about a central axis so arranged that the resultant of the centrifugal forces and gravity acts in a plane substantially parallel to the axes of the bobbins at the normal running speed of the machine. Preferably the yokes 4, 4<1> are arranged, as shown, with their axes at right angles to the axis of the machine, and the axes of the bobbins 7, 7<1> are parallel or coincident with the axes of the yokes. In another arrangement the yoke spindles 5, 5<1> are disposed at approximately 85‹ to the axis of the machine.
