Abstract
319,300. Summers & Sons, Ltd., J., and Bottomley, C. June 20, 1928. Reverberatory furnaces.-A furnace more particularly adapted for the heating of bars and plates in the manufacture of metal sheet comprises a fireplace a situated between two high temperature heating-chambers e, from which the gases pass to two lower temperature chambers f. Each of the chambers e is separated from the fireplace by a low bridge wall d and may be divided by a partition e<2> into two compartments served by separate doors e<1>. The goods in the chambers f may be protected from the direct action of flames by deflectors g. The bulk of the heating-gases escapes through ports h in the flows of the chambers f, and a portion may be passed direct to the flues i to equalize the heating of the chambers e.
