Abstract

319,271. Bonnot Co., (Assignees of Lentz, G. W.). Sept. 19, 1928, [Convention date]. Delivery apparatus. - A device for stacking sheet material is described with reference to stacking polished sheets on delivery from a coldrolling mill. The feed table, roll pass, and deliverv table are all arranged in the same plane to avoid buck. ling of the sheets. The delivery table comprises a series of parallel shafts 16 some of which are geared together by a chain driven by a sprocket through gearing from a motor 21. The shafts carry staggered discs 22 that form a roller table for the sheets. On reaching the end of the table the edge of the sheet enters between fingers 59, 60 which check the motion of the sheet bv a bevelled surface, the upper finger 59 being pivoted to yield when the sheet is turned over by the stacker. The fingers are carried by a lever 57 and the impact of the sheet rocks the lever and slides a bar 55 which rocks levers 62, 51. The lever 62 withdraws a pin 64 from a notch in a drum 66 and registers it with an annular groove 65. The lever 51 acts through a yoke and toggle links 50 to engage a clutch 46 and transmit drive from the motor to a shaft 23 on which are secured a series of pairs of plates 25 located between the shafts 16. Arms 26 having slots 30 are mounted on the shafts 23 between the plates by means of rollers 29 carried by the plates. Notches 34 located at opposite sides and ends of the arms are engaged alternately by detents 31 on the plates. When the clutch is engaged the arms 26 swing upwards between the shafts 16 raising the sheet and turning it over on to a stack 38. After half a revolution an inclined part 65<c> of the annular groove cams the pin 64 into a second notch in the drum 66, thereby locking the shaft 23, disengaging the clutch 46, and resetting the lever 57. Shortly before this action fixed pins 36, Fig. 7, engage arms 35 secured to the detents 31 and cam them out of the notches 34. The arms then slide radially over the rollers 29, being guided by a surface 67 until the other set of detents engage the notches at the other ends of the arms. The device is then ready for the transfer of another sheet which by this construction may be delivered from the mill during the transfer of the preceding sheet.
