Abstract

685,739. Feeding sheets. NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO. Feb. 19, 1951 [Feb. 24, 1950], No. 3939/51. Class 100 (i). Sheet-separators; pile supports.-Cards or cheques 113 are separated from a box-shaped magazine by rotatable fingers 86 mounted on a shaft 85, feed rollers 90, 92 feed them behind a window 102 where they can be viewed with their bottom edges resting on fingers 100 mounted on a rotatable shaft 101, and the fingers 100 then lift up the cheques and place their lower edges on to an inclined plate 121, whereupon the cheques slide down into a receptacle 123, face downwards. The shafts of the rollers and two sets of fingers have sprocket-wheels thereon, and are driven by an endless chain 135 from a wheel 131 on a shaft 130 driven by pawl and ratchet mechanism, link 145, lever 146 pivoted at 147, link 148, and a crank 149 secured to the shaft 150 of an electric motor 151. As shown, the whole apparatus is secured on the top of an accounting machine 65, such as that described in Specification 629,707, and depression of a key 155 causes the circuit of the motor 151 to be established. The cheques 113 are held against a front transparent plate 70, apertured to allow access to the friction fingers 86, by a plate 77 having arms 78 pivoted to a pressure block 79 which is urged forwardly by a length of coil spring 82 secured to the two sides 61, 62 of the magazine.
