Abstract
319,210. Naamlooze Vennootschap de Bataafsche Petroleum Maatschappij, (Assignees of Sautermeister, C.). Sept. 17, 1928, [Convention date]. Void [Published under, Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Pitch and tar.-Acid tars, whose sulphuric acid content has been reduced to 1-2 per cent by treatment with steam, are converted into commercially valuable products by mixing with crude gas tar and distilling the mixture. The acid tars dissolve the crude gas tar and the ammonia in the latter neutralizes the sulphuric acid in the former; the proportion of gas tar added is preferably 10-15 per cent. The products of distillation are more elastic than normal pitches and are suitable for road making, impregnating roofing-felt, and the like.
