Abstract
319,060. Curtis, A. June 16, 1928. Oscillatory discvalves; leakage, preventing. - In an oscillatory 'disc or gate valve in which closure-members 6, 7, pressed apart by an interposed spring 14, coact with aligned ports 4, 5 in a twopart casing 1, 2, the operating spindle 19 is formed with a collar 19<a> and is pressed by a spring 21 against packing- rings 20 seated in an annular enlargement 2c of the bearing bore in the casing. The spindle, to which the closure member r 6 is attached, may, for this purpose, be formed d with a radial projection or crank arm 18 fitting an aperture 17 of corresponding shape in the closure member extension 6<1>. The sealing-faces 4, 5 in the casing are extended so that the annular seating-surfaces 9, 12 on the closure-members maintain engagement therewith in all positions. An aperture 6<*> in the closure-member 6 allows the pressure of the fluid to act upon the closure-member 7, the latter being of circular formation and slidably seated in a cylindrical recess in the member 6. The members are further recessed to position a conical spring 14 carrying a knob 15. A lug 6a on the member 6 locates the parts in the closed position. To facilitate assembly, a packing- washer 3 is located by an annular flange 1<*> on the casing-member 1.
