Abstract
318,761. Flower, A. L. Sept. 27, 1928. Crown-corks, applying. -In a machine for applying crown corks to bottles, a bottle rest 10 is mounted on a rod 9 resiliently held in a bracket 7 adjustable in a frame of the machine, and is actuated by levers 57, 58 and a resilient rod 65 egaging a crank pin 70 carrying also a doublearmed lever 89. A rod 104 actuates the capsule container which delivers capsules to the crowning head through shoot 101. In use, the bottle is placed on the table 10 and a pedal 94 is depressed to withdraw a tappet 92 from the lever 89. A hooked end of the lever then engages a constantly rotating pin-wheel 76 to actuate the rod 65, lifting the table 10 to operative position. The bottle continues to rise, carrying with it the capsule, a die 43, and a sliding member 38 which through a stem 37 raises a block 40. When the die 43 strikes a block 33 it presses the capsule on to the bottle. A rod 15, actuated from the lever 57, moves a bowl 49 on levers 47 into contact with the block 40 to depress the member 38 for releasing the bottle.
