Carbonyl processes; molten metals, removing impurities from by exhaustion; purifying and refining.-In a process for the production of pure iron as described in the parent Specification, iron obtained from iron carbonyl and containing an excess of carbon over the amount necessary to combine with the oxygen present is mixed with iron obtained from iron carbonyl and containing an excess of oxygen over the amount necessary to combine with the carbon present in such relative proportions that all the carbon and oxygen is removed on melting or sintering the mixture..
