Abstract
318,285. Rutenberg, A. June 1, 1928. Centrifugal machines; casting and moulding pipes.-Comprises a process for forming an impermeable layer in a pipe by introducing concrete material together with small metal particles into a rotating tube or mould. The metal may be localized in either the outer or inner layer or an intermediate layer of the pipe by introducing it in the first or any other charge of the concrete material. Suitable chemical substances, such as ammonium chloride, which will not have a deleterious effect upon the strength of the concrete, may be introduced with the metal particles to induce oxidation with consequent expansion and strengthening effect. The metal particles may be introduced into the mould after the concrete has been spun, so that after further rotation the metal particles' are partly embedded in the inner surface and are left projecting therefrom to form bonding pieces serving to hold asphalt or other impermeable lining material in contact with the concrete.
