Abstract

378,308. Moulding pipes &c. in centrifugal machines. LAVAUD, D. S. DE, 107, Rue Lauriston, Paris. Dec. 24, 1931, No. 35694. Convention date, Feb. 24. [Class 87 (ii).] Hollow bodies are made by spraying molten material on the wall of a rotating mould. Molten metal may be discharged by grooves 3 at one or both sides of a pourer 2, each group of streams of metal being broken up and delivered on to the rotating mould 1 by gas delivered through a slot 4 or a number of parallel slots. The gas may be so chosen that it modifies the nature of the metal during pouring e.g. a gas rich in oxygen would convert cast iron into steel. Enamel powder may be applied, by means of gas under pressure or otherwise, to the solidified metal while still hot.
