317,660. Hathorn, Davey, & Co., Ltd., and Lupton, H. R. Sept. 15, 1928. Multi-stage pumps; casings.-A multi-stage centrifugal pump has a longitudinally divided casing 1 and has diaphragms 2, 4 between the impellers. The parts 4 of the diaphragms are of equal diameters and engage the inner projecting rings on the casing; fluid-tight joints are obtained by the use of rings 5 of india-rubber or like material which is compressed when the casing halves are bolted together. With this construction only one boring of the casing is necessary, and the diaphragms can be adjusted en bloc.
