The adapter, which may be laminated, is circular or polygonal in form or may comprise a number of arms upon a central boss and is secured in position at more than one point in its circumference, preferably by the screws f or bolts and nuts which pass through projections h on the adapter and secure the chain wheels to the crank. Spaced or continuous lugs c on the ring g and on the crank may centre the wheels. The individual parts of the assembly may be separately secured together.
