316,752. Fry, G. W. July 9, 1928. Dynamometers. - A spring dynamometer for testing wheel brakes has a lever 1 having at one end an operating handle 2 and at the other end a ring 3 to engage the wheel axle 22. A spring cylinder 6 is pivotally mounted on the lever 1. A rod 12 extending into the cylinder 6 has at one end a hook 13 for engaging the periphery of the tyre 21 and at the other end a washer 14 with projecting indicators 9 and 10 extending through slots in the cylinder 6. On attemping to turn the brake wheel 20 by exerting an upward pressure on the handle 2 the spring 15 in the cylinder 6 is compressed and the portion of the indicators 9 and 10 in the slots gives a measure of the force exerted on the handle 2.
