Abstract

315,999. Spratt, H. Hart-. July 18, 1928. Spring and weight power-storing mechanism.- The winding pinion 12 of a spring or weightdriven motor is actuated through pawls 13 by a ratchet 11 on! a grooved drum 1. The drum is rotated by cords 5, 6 which take off from opposite sides of it, and pass over pulleys 7, 10 to a cross-bar 8 which is connected by a cord 9 to a hand or foot actuated lever. An extension of one cord 6 is connected to a spring or weight 11<b> which returns the drum when the lever is released. The drum may be coned or formed as a fusee and the cords may be replaced by opposit,ely moving racks engaging a pinion on the drum.
