Abstract
282,014. Wrangell, M. de. Dec. 11, 1&<2>6, [Convention date]. Addition to 278,386. D?-:t;:'Mf/.-Relates to a modification of the driving arrangement described in the parent SpMiR- cation. wherein the turntable spindle can be driven alternatively by an electric motor or by clockwork arranged so that when one is operative the other is automatically rendered inoperative, and consists in the provision ol free wheels in the driving trains, so as to reduce the resistance of the inoperative drive. Fig. 1 shows a combined alternative driving arrangement in which a free wheel 9 is arranged in the spring, and clockwork drive to the turntable-spindle 6 and a freewheel 4 in the drive from the motor 1, which is transmitted through the governor shaft 5. The motor casing is suspended from pivots 2 and linked by a rod 3 to a pivoted bell-crank 15 engaging a pin 16 on a rod 12 extending from a pivoted bracket 13 to a pivoted lever 11 adapted to lock a ratchet wheel 10 to arrest the spring and clockwork drive. In this position, the motor is driving and the belt 32 is taut. On application of the internally threaded stem of the clockwork winding handle to the threaded end of the winding spindle 14 the pivoted lever 13 is pressed back and acts through the rod 12 to disengage the lever 11 from the ratchet 10, so that the clockwork now drives, and simultaneously rocks the motor casing 1 to slacken the belt 32, and allows the motor circuit to open at 17, 18. On removing the winding handle from the winding spindle 14, a spring 19 operates the lever 15 to bring the motor into operation and lock the spring motor. The belt 32 and its pulleys may be replaced by a pair of friction wheels. The motor circuit may be broken rapidly to diminish sparking by causing the ratchet wheel 10 Fig. 3, to be locked by a pivoted detent 24 on the lever 11, whereby the circuit at 17, 18 is kept closed; on movement of the lever 11 to release the ratchet, a spring 25 moves the detent 24 rapidly against a stop 41, allowing the contact 17 to open. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), the freewheel in the clockwork drive comprises a number of discs 22, Fig. 6 (Cancelled), arranged between a fixed drum on the turntable spindle 6 and side faces on a wheel fixed to the pinion 8, Fig. 1, which is loose on the spindle. The freewheel on the governor shaft 5 comprises a number of eccentricall.v mounted rollers 20, Fig. 4 (Cancelled), carried by a. disc 4 loose on the shaft and adapted to grip the shaft when the disk is driven in one direction. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
