Abstract

270,285. Muchajer, P. April 27, 1926, [Convention date]. Driving.-A spring which slips and allows the necessary rotation of the winding-spindle of a gramophone motor to occur when the mainspring is being wound up, and forms a driving-coupling in the transmission train during the unwinding of the mainspring, is mounted on an intermediate spindle of the transmission gear. The mechanism shown comprises a mainspring 8 located in a casing 9 fixed below the frame-plate 2, which, together with a plate 1 provides bearings for the transmission gearing, the turntable spindle 14, and a centrifugal governor 17 - - 20. The winding-spindle 4 carries a pinion 5 which engages with a wheel 6 on the mainspring spindle 7, the wheel 6 also gearing with a toothed sleeve 10, loose on a spindle 11. On this spindle is fixed a wheel 12 gearing with a pinion 13 on the turntable spindle. A cylinder 21 is also fixed to the spindle 11, and around it is coiled a spring 22, one end of which is connected to the sleeve 10, the other end of the spring being loose. The direction in which the spring 22 is coiled is such that when the mainspring is being wound up, (rotation of the parts 4, 10 occurring in the direction shown by the arrows, Fig. 1), the spring 22 slides over the cylinder 21, which, together with the spindle 11 and the parts geared thereto, remains at rest. During the running down of the mainspring, its drive is transmitted to the turntable through the spindle 11 by the spring 22 binding upon the part 21. Speed-regulating and indicating; starting and stopping.-A wheel 16 on the turntable spindle 14 drives a centrifugal governor, which comprises a friction disc 19, axially movable under the action of weights 17. A brake-pad 20, coacting with the disc 19, is mounted on a spring plate 27, having a bent-up corner 26 with which the inclined end 25 of a lever 24 is adapted to engage. The position of the lever 24, which determines that of the parts 27, 20, is adjusted by moving its end 31 into contact with a rotatable eccentric plate 28, which carries a pointer adjacent to a speed-indicating scale 29. When the lever 24 is moved against a fixed stop 30, it releases the spring plate 27, allowing the brakepad 20 to press hard against the disc 19.
