Abstract
314,367. Dicker, S. G. S., (Naamlooze Vennootschap Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken). March 26, 1928. R÷ntgen-ray tubes. -Apparatus for examining substances such as crystals by means of X-rays comprises a raytube 1 mounted in a metallic envelope which may b e earthed during operation and encloses the H.T. supply transformer, the outer wall of the raytube having an impermeable metallic portion 2 which is insulated from the electrodes of the tube, surrounds the anticathode, is mechanically and electrically connected to the envelope, and is provided with two or more windows 3 as of Lindeman-glass for the passage of the rays. The glass portions 4, 5 of the tube 1 are surrounded by the parts 6, 7 of the metallic envelope, connected as by screw threads to the metallic portion 2 of the tube. The anticathode conductor 19 is of large diameter to ensure dissipation of heat, and its protruding end may be surrounded by oil cooled by water.
