R÷ntgen-ray tubes.-In a tube with an envelope partly of metal and partly of insulating material sealed to the ends of the metal part, the insulating part is surrounded by a metal envelope connected to earth. As shown, a cylinder 13 of ferro-ohromium is sealed to glass end tubes 7, which are surrounded by insulators 8 enclosed by a metal envelope 10 connected with or extending around a lead jacket 17 covering the cylinder 13. Cooling apertures 11 are provided in the rounded ends of the envelope 10. The end of the lead 9 for the anti-cathode is rounded to increase the breakdown voltage. The supply cables 6 between the tube and a stand may be enclosed in the envelope 10. Specification 208,108 is referred to.
