Gas meters. - A gas meter A of the Roots blower type operates the counter T through differential gearing D by means of which a correction is applied to compensate for the passage of unmeasured gas. In one form of the apparatus the correction is applied by driving one wheel of the differential gearing from a small wet or dry meter B the inlet of which is connected by a pipe t in the inlet to the meter A in front of a reducing valve E and the outlet of which is connected to the outlet of the meter A through a pipe t<1> fitted with a differential regulator c and a regulating valve V. The differential regulator c contains a valve operated by a small counter-balanced bell f dipping in liquid and subject on its lower side to the pressure in the pipe t<1> in front of the valve V and on its upper side to the pressure in the inlet pipe to the meter A beyond the valve E. In another form of apparatus the gas leakage is assumed to take place at a constant rate and the difference in pressure at the inlet and outlet sides of the meter A when the meter is supplying gas actuates a switch to cause a synchronous electric motor or clockwork mechanism to drive the correcting wheel of the differential gearing.
