Abstract

313,432. Becht Co., R., (Assignees of Becht, R.). June 11, 1928, [Convention date]. Feeding articles from shoots. -.A machine for applying a varnish or other coating-compound to cans to prevent rusting is provided with means for applying the compound simultaneously to the side walls and ends of a can which is automatically fed thereto, means being also provided for removing and delivering the coated cans. The cans are fed from a conveyer 35, to a shoot 36 by an endless chain 33 passing around sprockets 31, 32 and provided with a number of spaced carrying-fingers 34 which lift the cans to the level of the shoot. As a can runs down the shoot its entry to the coating-device is controlled by a bar 38 on a lever 37 which is rocked intermittently by a pair of spaced cams or lugs on the shaft of the sprocket wheel 32, a can being allowed to fall from the shoot each time the bar 38 is lifted.
