Heating parts.-In an arrangement for heating up and keeping hot the casings of turbines according to the parent Specification, the heating during a state of rest or of low load is effected by steam, and the extra heating prior to the application of load is effected by electricity. Both heating systems may act together. Fig. 1 shows a high-pressure turbine 1 with its supply pipe 3 and valve box 2 provided with jackets in which hot air is circulated by a blower 10. During a state of rest or of low load the air is heated by a steam heater 8, but prior to the application of load the air is heated to a higher temperature by an electric heater 9. In the case of a central station plant, this electric heater may be controlled by a clock 15, or by a relay actuated in accordance with the load curve of the station.
