Abstract

312,618. Smith, A. Feb. 29, 1928. Idler rollers for endless-belt conveyers; rollerway conveyers.-In conveyer rollers, a drum d is gripped between flanges n on end caps c which are connected by tie-bolts e and supported by ball bearings g on the spindle a. Each ball bearing is positioned by a collar b on the shaft and a washer h bearing against a felt &c. packing j, which is compressed when the bolts e are tightened and prevents entry of grit &c. to the roller. A lubricating-nozzle on one or both caps e supplies oil to the space x from which it passes to the bearing between lugs m on the washer h pressing upon the outer bearing race.
