Abstract

311,876. Baker, F. W. March 24,1928. Suspension-spoke wheels; spokes, securing and adjusting.-In a wire-spoked wheel for vehicles or mechenical purposes comprising double spokes, the ends of the spokes are first secured to the rim 1, the bent portions being then threaded into or through the hub and secured by devices passed through the spoke-loops. Such devices may be carried by a single member to tension the spokes simultaneously. For the same purpose, the hub may be formed in two adjustable portions. In the form shown in Figs. 3 and 6, the spokes 2, 3 are secured to the rim by means of split conical bushes 7, the looped mid-portions of the spokes being passed through slots 11, 12 in the hub. Anchoring-members 13, such as shown in Fig. 13, are then driven through the spoke-loops. In a modification, the anchoring- members are formed on a ring which is adjusted by a hub-cap. The hub may be formed in telescoping parts adjusted by a threaded collar 34.
