Abstract
311,796. International General Electric Co., Inc., and Mayo, C. G. Feb. 14, 1928. Addition to 224,873. Transformers. - In an arrangement for measuring the voltage on the high-pressure side of a power transformer from the low-pressure side as claimed in the parent Specification, a reactor is employed which is supplied directly from the high or low pressure side of the power transformer. This is equivalent to combining the reactor and current transformer of the parent Specification in one unit. To the low-pressure side of the power transformer A is connected the potential transformer B supplying the measuring-instrument C. In order to compensate for the reactance of the transformer A under varying load, a reactor D is connected in the circuit of the instrument C. The core E of the reactor is provided with an air-gap F allowing the reactor to be positioned around one of the power transformer leads either, as shown, on the low-pressure side or on the high-pressure side. The reactor thus functions as a current transformer. The invention may be applied to polyphase circuits.
