Abstract

Pressure meters.-For measuring a high voltage between a point a and earth E, the primary windings b<1> - - b<4> of a number of transformers are connected in series between the point a and earth. A voltmeter d is connected to the secondary winding c' of the transformer nearest to earth. The secondary winding c<2>, c<3>, c<4> of the remaining transformers are loaded with resistances e so as to cause a drop of potential over their primary winding b<2>, b<3>, b<4>. The instrument d may be shunted with a regulating resistance f, which is adjusted until the loads on the transformers are equal. The iron cores and secondary circuits of the transformers are connected to one point of the corresponding primary winding. The transformers may be mechanically connected to form a column with interspaced insulators.
