Abstract

310,147. Wood, W. R. March 13, 1928. Pulcerulent-fuel furnaces. -In a boiler furnace pulverized fuel is delivered upwardly from the bottom of the combustion chamber at or near the axis thereof into a whirling stream of air so that the fuel is distributed over the crosssectional area of the chamber. As shown in Fig. 1, the fuel is injected through the pipe e into a combustion chamber enclosed by water tubes b, c, d and air is delivered tangentially through nozzles a arranged at the corners of the combustion chamber. A cone f in the mouth of the fuel-supply pipe serves to spread the fuel.
