Abstract

309,926. International General Electric Co., Inc., (Assignees of Allgemeine Electricitõts-Ges .). April 17, 1928, [Convention date]. Polyphase transformers are constructed with cores having at least two wound legs per phase, the individual windings of each phase being connected either in series or parallel, the arrangement shown being a series connection designed to avoid high voltage difference between neighbouring parts on the separate legs of a phase. The flux has opposite directions in adjacent legs, unwound legs a being provided at the ends. The method is intended to facilitate construction of transformers of increased capacity whilst retaining the core height within the limits imposed by the railway clearance gauge.
