309,864. Miller Printing Machinery Co., (Assignees of Atzert, J. A.). April 16, 1928, [Convention date]. Sheet-separators. - Pneumatic separator feet for automatic sheet-feeding apparatus such as described in Specification 21927/13, in which separation of the top sheet of a pile is facilitated by forming a V or other depression 16 in the sheet-engaging side of the foot 12, so that air can pass between the top sheet and the one below it to prevent double feed, are constructed so as to enable the extent to which the sheet is buckled by the depression 16 to be varied for sheets of different thickness. The foot 12 is secured by a latch 14 to a reciprocating bar 10, and the foot is formed with a boss 17 into which is threaded a tube 18 connected by a pipe 19 to a vacuum pump or the like. A suction cup 21 is attached to the tube 18, and is received in a hollow part 20 of boss 17 which is aranged on the front of foot 12. By rotating tube 18 the cup 21 is adjusted vertically, and when this is raised a great buckling effect is given to the paper, and when it is lowered, as for thick sheets, the buckling effect is diminished.
