Abstract

309,810. Blache, H. H. Aug. 16, 1928. Pistons ; pistonpacking. - Detach able scraper rings are retained on the outer part of a piston or cylinder liner by a detachable part of the liner which is either opposite to, or beyond, the rings. A scraper ring 6 mounted on the piston 3 is formed in segments which are pressed outwards by springs 7, and retained by an annular part 5, bolted to the cylinder liner 1. Fig. 2 shows two rings 9 retained in a groove in the liner by a part 10, the rings being so formed that a projection on one fills a gap in the other; scraping edges extend round the whole circumference and are completed by a corresponding edge on the projection, and the gap is wide enough to pass the connecting rod; the, rings may be L-shaped in cross-section.
