Abstract
309,136. Guerne, D. April 5, 1928, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Pistons, reducing wear of; connecting-rods.- In a piston of aluminium or magnesium or the like, in which 'the skirt is surrounded by a caststeel or other sleeve 13, the piston body is axially slotted through ribs 3 at the side of the gudgeonpin bosses. The slots 4 communicate with circumferential slots 7 at the lowest piston-ring groove, and are drilled to receiver pins 8, about which the piston skirt pivots in expanding and contracting. The gudgeon-pin may be enclosed by the sleeve 13. or may be. inserted through a hole at one side of the sleeve and retained by a spring-ring 15. The sleeve 13 is preferably screwed on to the lower end of the piston skirt and spaced from it at 12 in the neighbourhood of the gudgeon-pin bosses.
