Evaporators and condensers in structural combination.-In apparatus for distilling water of the kind comprising an evaporating chamber a surmounted by a condensing chamber consisting of a hollow cone n wholly covered by a cooling jacket f and provided at its base with an annular condensate channel o protected from the hot vapours bv an annular conical shield m, the condensing chamber with the above associated parts are removable as a unit from the evaporating chamber. A water supply connection is fixed in the cylindrical jacket for in the annulus q connecting the jacket f and the chamber a, this annulus also receiving an outlet spout q and cock r for removing condensate. The overflow from the jacket f delivers through a pipe t into a cup c communicating with the evaporator through a pipe d provided with a baffle e to prevent blowing off water owing to ebullition. A constant height of water is maintained by an overflow pipe c<1>. A non- conducting air space is formed between the shield m and an upper conical shield The condensate in the annular channel o is also kept cool by water in an annular jacket p forming an extension of the jacket f.
