Abstract

Evaporators and condenscrs in structural combination.-In a still for distilling water and other liquids, of the type in which a dome-shaped condenser cooled by a water-jacket is superposed upon the boiler, the condenser and other portions with which the distilled water comes in contact are made of non-metallic material such as earthenware, porcelain, or glass. The evaporator A, which is preferably aiso of non-metallic material and heated on a sand bath, is formed with a spout B passing upwards through an opening on a base D on which stands the condenser J, which delivers the distilled water into a gutter G in the base D, whence it is discharged through an opening H. Water enters the condenser J through an opening L and leaves it through an opening M connected to two tubes M<1>, M<2>. The tube M<2> leads to a waste outlet. The tube M<1>, which is provided with a regulating-tap, leads to a cup C communicating with the evaporator A, so that the level of water in the evaporator is kept constant.
